Ringgold County Environmental Health

Ringgold County’s environmental health programs are provided to promote and protect the quality of life and well-being of residents of Ringgold County.

Environmental Health Services

Ringgold County’s environmental health programs are administered by the Clarke County Environmental Health staff. They work closely with Ringgold County Public Health and work out of the Public Health office.

On March 9, 2000, Ringgold County entered into a “28E Agreement” with Clarke County for the purpose of providing environmental health services to Ringgold County.

The “28E Agreement” refers to the Iowa Code Chapter 28E which is set up to permit state and local governments in Iowa to make efficient use of their powers by enabling them to provide joint services and facilities with other agencies and to co-operate in other ways of mutual advantage.

Ringgold County Board of Health

Ringgold County Environmental Health is an agency of the Ringgold County Board of Health.

Ringgold County Environmental Health’s mission is to promote, protect and ensure the health and well being of the citizens of Ringgold County and to provide equitable and economical service.

Our service area encompasses the entire Ringgold County, including both rural and non-rural properties.

  • On-site waste-water treatment and disposal (septic systems)
  • Private wells
  • Indoor air quality (includes radon, mold, and pollutants)
  • General environmental health

Filing Environmental Complaints

Ringgold County Environmental Health investigates complaints regarding:

  • Dangerous buildings
  • Public nuisances
  • Health Hazards
  • Unhealthy living conditions
  • Illegal dumping

When filing a complaint regarding one of these areas, it is important to gather complete information before contacting our office. Things you will be asked to provide include property address, property owner’s or occupant’s name and phone number, nature and details of the complaint, and what has been done to contact the owner/occupant prior to referring them to our office.

Iowa Time-of-Transfer Rules
